WHO I AM

I am an independent celebrant for both weddings and funerals operating under the umbrella of Talking Voice. This is a specific privacy notice pertaining to this part of my professional work, however Talking Voice also includes:

 Talking Voice: working in the education sector with trainee teachers on vocal health and presentation in the classroom
 Talking Voice: individual coaching for public speaking or teachers requiring help and advice
 Singing teacher: individual vocal technique at private home studio or in school/university settings
 Choir animateur: vocal consultant and coach to choirs to address issues over vocal tone, singing technique and all other chorister matters
 Adjudicator: adjudicating music festivals at a national level
 Professional singer: honouring contracts between Janet Shell mezzo soprano and third party employer

As a qualified celebrant, I am committee to processing any personal data in accordance with the law. I am a sole operator, often working in conjunction with a number of industry specialists for each ceremony, but remaining independent creates and delivers ceremonies for both the wedding and funeral
sector. This involves meeting with clients and exchanging personal data.

WHAT THIS PRIVACY NOTICE IS FOR

This notice serves to show how I will used and process personal data including

 the kind of data I need to collect
 the use of that data
 the storage and destruction of that data
 the sharing of any data

PERSONAL DATA THAT MAY BE COLLECTED

 your name
 your address
 telephone number including mobile
 email address
 age
 sexuality

 ethnicity/culture
 identifiable photographs
 details of ceremony and chosen time
 initial feedback from you (then anonymised)

Please bear in mind that while I may not specifically ask you about some of these details, you may indirectly disclose them to me
Eg same sex ceremony certificate will indicate your sexuality/a certain theme may indicate you culture/ethnicity. Embedded content from other websites. works with an ‘opt in’ approach for data usage and storage. This is the easiest and quickest way to generate everything rather than going through each small detail, resulting in much more ‘paperwork’. By submitting your details through the website and associated links or forms you are opting into data collection and storage. (Implied consent is the legal term). I will ask you to sign to say that you have read this notice and agree to the ‘opt-in’ clause once you sign formally for my services. You may opt out at any time and over specific data by emailing me the details and making a formal request. Make sure that I have acknowledged this.

If any materials (ie photos) have already been published, please understand these cannot be recalled, but of course no new versions will be generated. Some data blocking may result in the creation of the ceremony being more challenging or
impossible, so please do keep communicating!

HOW I STORE AND DESTROY DATA THAT I COLLECT

All personal and sensitive data divulged to remains confidential. Any paper files are locked at my home address in a filing cabinet and destroyed three months following the service via shredding.

Electronic data – contact forms/questionnaires/wedding scripts- will be held for one year post ceremony and then be permanently deleted. Documents can be destroyed earlier than one year on request from the couple.

Emails will only contain current questions and information; older ones will be deleted to keep a clear head! Email addresses will be kept for one year on a filed data base on a PC (spread sheet) to allow for post ceremony feedback/reviews etc
